#051-Blood in the Air
Feb. 11th, 2007 07:22 pmTitle: Blood in the Air
Word Count: 200
Fandom: Christeen Feehan’s Carpathian Series
Challenge: TtHDrabble #051: The Written Word
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters mentioned in this drabble. They belong to Joss and Christeen Feehan. This is some time between Lover’s Walk and the start of Season Four
Spike stalked along the dusty path. The scent of blood, fear, and something unnatural hit him, to his sensitive nose, they told a story as plain as the written word could. He grinned ferally as he recalled that particular unnatural scent.
It had been soon after Angelus had been resouled the first time. He and Dru were kicking it up in the Carpathian Mountains, hunting down as many of the gypsies as they could. This strange vampire like demon had interrupted them while stalking this particularly tasty looking gypsy girl. Needless to say, even then, his younger self wasn’t about to let some demon take his kill; and the fight that resulted had been one of the most exhilarating he had. The thing wouldn’t die even after an aggravated and injured Spike had torn its heart out in desperation. It had only been Dru’s stars telling him to set the heart on fire that had finally allowed him to kill it.
Spike’s face became stony at the thought of Dru, which only served to remind him of his sire’s unfaithfulness. At least I can take it out on that unvampire thing. He thought to himself as he tracked the scent.
