"Make a wish," Richie grinned.

Xander winced.

"What? You're too old for making a wish on your birthday candles?" Joe chuckled.

"C'mon, make a wish and blow them out," Amanda urged.

Xander took a deep breath and kept his mind as blank as he could. Vengeance demons needed the words spoken out loud, but why tempt fate? Some psychic demon might decide to go into the dreaded "w-word" granting business; weirder things had happened.

"What'd you wish for?" Amanda grinned mischievously.

"You aren't supposed to tell, Amanda!" Richie rolled his eyes. "If you tell, then it won't come true."
