Title: Dropping the Bombshell
Word Count: 200
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Challenge: #004 – Xander
Disclaimer: I don't own this stuff. Joss Whedon and Ron Moore do. No cash made, just fun had. I promise I won't break 'em, and I'll put 'em back in the case when I'm done.

He’d only caught the tail end of the question. The man in the blue uniform had asked him his name.

At least, that’s what he thought he’d asked.

Xander Harris, Scooby Extraordinaire, did not speak the language that this guy who was interrogating him spoke.

It sounded like Latin, though.

Classical Latin.

The Latin in Giles’ books, Latin.

Great. He was stuck offworld, Dawn, Indy and Faith were god knows where, facing god knows what, and he was here getting ready to beat his head on the table and curse whichever deity would claim culpability for dumping him somewhere where they only spoke Latin. He supposed it was a good thing that he’d been in all of those research parties.

“My name is Alexander,” he replied in broken Latin. “What is yours?”

The man was having problems understanding him. Apparently, Xander sounded as strange to the interrogator as he did to Xander.

Gaeta was tasked – along with Dee, the Chief, and Racetrack – with interrogating the new arrivals. They’d been found drifting in a low orbit around one of Kobol’s moons.

In a ship of a manufacture that none aboard Galactica had seen before.

“All right, Alexander. Where are you from?”
