#113 - Secrets (Harry Potter/Buffy)
Mar. 6th, 2012 01:59 pmTitle: Secrets
Word count: 200
Fandom: Harry Potter/Buffy
Challenge: #113 - Secrets
Summary: A spy has many secrets.
Disclaimer: Universes not mine. Words mine.
Notes: This is part of my "In Truth, Beauty" series. All you need to know is that it's a Snape/Anya pairing.
I actually wrote this one when the fest started, but didn't manage to get it in on time for the "Secrets" week.
Severus Snape had many secrets.
There were the secrets he kept from Voldemort. That he was a double agent. That his Patronus was a doe. That he really had loved Lily. That he hated everything that Voldemort stood for. That he would rather die than see Voldemort win.
There were the secrets he kept from Dumbledore. Actually, there were no secrets he kept from Dumbledore.
There were the secrets he kept from everyone else. That his hair was greasy and his teeth were yellow and crooked because the youngest teacher in the school needed to do something to fend off amorous students. That Lily had been his best friend in childhood. That his father was a drunk who had beaten his wife and child. That the apothecary he bought most of his potions ingredients from was a Muggle woman called Anya Jenkins who ran a shop with the dubious name of "The Magic Box".
Then there were the secrets he kept from himself.
Anya? True, she loved potions. She wasn't ugly. She wasn't a dunderhead. She wasn't holier-than-thou. She was appallingly, entertainingly straightforward. He could talk with her without wanting to hex her. That didn't mean that he loved her.

Date: 2012-03-06 06:51 am (UTC)I'm kind of surprised you haven't commented on my previous Snape/Anya drabbles this round; you usually like them.
