Oz noticed the young man drumming the beat in the corner. He was watching the crowd like Buffy often had. He wasn’t here with friends. He smelled alone.
Oz liked him. He walked up to him and introduced himself. “Hey. I’m Oz.”
The teen shook his hand like a man. “Jack.”
“We need a drummer,” Oz told him. “You in?”
Jack looked startled and then shrugged. He placed his yo-yo on the table and stood. “Why not. Might keep me out of trouble. Idle hands and all that.”
“Don’t want to give the devil his due.”
Jack laughed.
Oz smirked.
