Try as she might, Dawn couldn’t quite contain the small frown of disappointment.
“I thought it would be bigger,” she said flatly.
“Dawn,” Buffy hissed reprovingly. “A little bit of respect?”
“Ok, more impressive looking, then,” Dawn said. “I mean, look at it. It’s plain, and little, and looks like kitsch they sell to tourists at the Acropolis. And it needs dusting. Doesn’t anyone look after the important artifacts?”
Percy snickered, but hastily rearranged his expression into something less amused when he caught his girlfriend’s eye.
“She kinda has a point,” he said defensively. “I mean, I didn’t really stop to worry about it at the time, but somehow you do expect it to be more…well, more. The decorations aren’t even as good as some of the stuff in that museum downtown.”
Annabeth rolled her eyes at all of them as she placed the vase in its newly constructed holder. Part of her renovations of Olympus had included a new case to house the ancient artifact where Percy had decided it belonged- at the hearth of Olympus, under Vesta’s watchful eye.
“You’re missing the point. It doesn’t need to look pretty or impressive. It’s what’s inside Pandora’s pithos that’s important.”
