“You know Caridad, I’ve been wanting to spend some uninterrupted time with you.” Don Finch leered, while leaning against a tree.
“Stuff it Finch, there’s no chance of you getting anywhere with me.”
“Is that so, Caridad. Who would, Capwell?”
“Hell yeah. Fenton is so much better than you. That’s why I asked him to the dance.”
“What does that freak have that I don’t?”
“Fenton is so much better than you Finch, it’s not even funny. Now shut up. We’re looking for five different species of birds. Look along the ground and see if you can spot any feathers.”
Title: The Liberation of Cleveland
Word count: 100
Fandom: World War Z
Challenge: #103
Notes: Post Chosen for Buffy with vague reference to the comic. Can I get a World War Z tag please?
“Xander, they’re coming!”
Xander looked up to see one of the Slayers, Renee, running towards him. “Hey Renee, what’s the big hurry?”
“The Army Xander. One of the lookouts spotted the leading edge of the US Army.”
“Thanks, Renee.” Xander smiled at the Slayer, before looking back down at his desk deep in thought. Several emotions battled inside of him upon hearing the news. Bitterness at the government for abandoning them. Wariness because of the Initiative fiasco. But what he felt most was hope. That for the first time in nearly ten years, that humanity could defeat the Z menace.
