A/N: This is set in my AU ‘verse where both Giles and Xander are Immortal, but no previous knowledge of the series is required.


Double Edged Sword

Xander practically bounced into the training room and Giles allowed himself a small smirk at his energy.

“You may not be so happy when we’re done,” he said wryly.

“Bring it on,” Xander replied with a grin and headed to the practise swords that hung on the wall. Giles coughed.

“Not those,” he said quietly. Giles picked up a wooden case and presented it to Xander.

Inside was a rapier, with an elaborate, gilt guard. Xander gasped and reverently picked it up.

“For me?” he said. Giles nodded.

“It once belonged to a Spanish friend of mine. It’s yours now.”
