Toys, But Not a Puppy
Aug. 14th, 2004 08:41 pmTtH’s “Joys of Childhood" challenge
Title: Toys, But Not a Puppy
Author: Jade
Crossover: you'll see *eg*
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: The characters used belong to Joss Whedon and all kinds of other people who aren't me.
Characters: Faith & you'll see *g*
Summary: Faith's childhood wasn't completely horrible...
Faith would never say that her childhood was good. Far from it, in fact. But there were times when it wasn't so bad. Luckily, this was one of those times. Her tongue poked out from between her lips as she carefully mirrored her new mentor. He never looked down at her just because she was only ten years old, and a girl. No, he taught her things and never said that she wasn't smart enough to understand.
She knew that it made him sad that he couldn't take her away from her drunk mother, but Faith was happy enough that he had tried. And it didn't matter to her if he couldn't buy her new clothes to replace the ones that the school bullies tore and ripped. With everything that he had shown her, she was perfectly happy with the brand new box of paper clips and the roll of duct tape he had bought for her. Of course, she would still like to have a puppy someday, but she could definitely make really fun toys out of her new paper clips.
After all, if it was good enough for her friend MacGyver, it was certainly good enough for her.
