Alex turned, watched the slow smile of satisfaction stretch across her opposition’s face before she turned to her client, the defendant and now free man after his council ripped Alex’s witnesses’ testimonies and credibility to shreds. A moment passed in which congratulations were passed before Alex shook her head and turned her attention back to gathering her notes.
“Ms. Cabot?”
A hand lifted, adjusting her glasses as she raised her head. “Ms. Morgan.”
“You’ve got a lot to learn, but you did good, rookie.”
“Go to hell.”
Something flickered in Lilah’s gaze before she assured Alex, “I will.”
