Challenge: #91 - Springing Forward or Falling Back
Disclaimer: I didn't create the characters, I'm just playing with them.
A/N: I meant to do more, but for some reason, I couldn't do anything with springing forward, and falling back made me think of one thing only. :(


Buffy sighed. It was typical of the king to order them to fall back, even from a position as well fortified as they’d made this one. Theodred was still in high dudgeon, furious with his father’s order, even as he implemented it. They could only hope that the crossing of the Isen wouldn’t turn into an ambush. It was perfect terrain for it. But what else could they do? Defy the king? Depose him? No, they’d obey. Like always. The Rohirrim had been falling back so long that Buffy was starting to doubt they knew how to do anything else.

I've always thought Buffy would fit in better with the Rohirrim than most of the other Men of Middle-earth. This feels like an interesting clip from a much longer story. =)

It just seems right somehow, doesn't it?
But if there's going to be a longer story, it will have to wait- I'm determined to finish up Sam's Girls, and make some headway on my other WIPs before I start any new longer stories.
