One month.
It had been one long, arduous month since she’d crawled from her grave, since she had been expelled from heaven. Buffy’s head bowed, hair spilling over her shoulders and the sunlight warmed her exposed neck.
Buffy’s world was crumbling around her as the grave-dirt had crumbled over her, down on her. She flexed her hands, shook off the phantom feel of soil as a shadow descended over her. Her brows drew together, head lifting to frown up at the person, green eyes narrowing as the sunlight glittered around their darkened outline.
He stepped forward and her mouth curved down at the sight of the trench coat covering him from shoulder to calf as he moved to take a place beside her. His head inclined and she was struck by the prettiness of his features before she noticed the intensity of his gaze.
Blue eyes looked over her, into her and he stated with grave certainty, “You’ve been missed.”
“By who?” the sarcastic bite to the words made her flinch.
His hand rose to cup her cheek. “You know.”
She did know and Buffy’s jaw trembled as she buried her face in that offered warmth, offered comfort and wept.

Note :: This drabble takes place in the ‘Here be Dragons’ verse.
They danced, twisting and turning, sweeping across the wheat field with a deadly grace as the flames grew higher, licking the night sky. Faith’s jaw tensed as she inhaled the thick smoke as it saturated her hair, her skin. She watched, silent, as more of their food, more of their world was eaten by fire. Metal was devouring their world, pushing back humanity a little more each day and they’d lost another battle, one year to the day that SkyNet had declared war.
Hard-callused hands wrapped around her waist, drew her back against a small chest as strong arms wrapped around her middle and a face was buried against her back. Her eyes closed as she accepted the small comfort and settled her own hands over Buffy’s, cradled her touch. The hands beneath her own tensed and she was turned, slow and precise to face her counterpart and Faith’s eyes opened.
She stared down into Buffy’s face, her carefully blank and ash smudged face. Green eyes searched hers before those callused hands rose, cupped her cheeks and drew her down. Their mouths met, the first brush soft and uncertain before they melded together and the flames crackled at Faith’s back.
