Challenge: #010 - Vacations
Disclaimer: Don’t own

Dawn had always wanted to see the world but with Buffy being dead again, she was stuck in America, only travelling for work reasons. Luckily, with her marks in linguistics and anthropology she had been able to go on digs for work in some pretty outrageous places. And apparently she was now qualified for a very secretive job.

“And I would get vacation time?” she asked.

“Certainly. May even be able to vacation in some fairly out of this world places,” Major Davis replied, trying hard to not smile.

How was she supposed to have known he was being literal?

Dawn was working through the inscriptions with Daniel. The two of them had become fairly close, in a mentor/student type way. She would go to him to confirm her translations of Ancient text and talk about things happening in their lives. It worked well as the two of them were both on similar types of SG teams.

It was one reason her team had accompanied SG1 to Antarctica. But when the Ancients' weapons platform was uncovered, Daniel had to groan at Dawn's excited comment.

“Oh my god! It's Cerebro. I wonder if there are any mutants in this dimension?”

Title: Coffee

Challenge: #012 - Hyperactivity
Disclaimer: Don’t own

Working at the SGC was bad for someone who always got hyperactive after too many cups of coffee, like how Dawn would. The place was a haven for caffeine addicts. Daniel had the best coffee, followed by Sam but they had quickly learnt not to give her more than one cup each a day. Unless they needed fast translations, then it was load her up and see how quickly she could go. But somehow there was never that need for urgency.

“Guys, this is nothing. You need to meet Willow. She puts me to shame when it comes to coffee.”

Title: Timely Interruptions

Challenge: #013 - Weddings that were not
Disclaimer: Don’t own

It was half way through what everyone had thought was a dinner in their honor before Dawn recognised what was being said. She ran the translations through her head again to be sure. She stood up rather abruptly and the person speaking stopped with a glare at her interruption.

“Don't eat that,” she hissed at one of her team members. At his questioning look, she continued. “If you do, you'll be married to his daughter.”

With angry words been directed at them, Dawn and her team quickly came to the decision to leave. Command would understand the early return, right?

Title: Rigid
Author: kayley
Word Count: 100
Fandom: SG1
Challenge: #014 - Independence
Disclaimer: Don’t own

Accepting the job at the SGC gave Dawn the answer to something she had craved for so long. Independence. The chance to be her own person. But some how it wasn't quite what she had expected. While she was no longer answering to Buffy or the Scoobies, she was now answering to not only the team she was a part of but to the Command structure within the SGC. In some ways it was even more rigid than Buffy's ruling. At least here she was allowed to date but even so, she had restrictions on what she could talk about.

Title: Giggling

Challenge: #015 - Harry Potter
Disclaimer: Don’t own

Dawn couldn't help but giggle at the description of how magic was used in Harry Potter. She had met members of the most respected Coven in the world and none of them ever cast spells like that. Hell, Willow would blow Voldemort away while he was trying to grab his wand.

She knew she was annoying Jack with her giggling, so she kept it up a bit longer than she needed to. Daniel was right, annoying Jack was extremely fun. When Jack stormed out of the mess, Dawn held out her hand. She was now richer than she started as.

Title: Babbling

Challenge: #016 - It's a mystery
Disclaimer: Don’t own

Jack looked at the new kid with a raised eyebrow. She was staring intently at the babbling duo of Daniel and Sam.

“It's a mystery, don't bother trying to work it out,” he told her.

“Huh? What was that?” Dawn asked confused.

“Don't try figuring out how they can talk so much without running out of breath, it's a mystery to all.”

“I wasn't trying to figure it out, I'm just amazed that it's not just the Scoobies who babble like that. Although Willow and Xander could so put them to shame,” Dawn replied, speaking very rapidly.

“As could you.”

Title: Sonnet 113

Challenge: #017 - Shakespeare

Daniel noticed Dawn sitting hunched over a photo of an inscription found on a ruin, her face scrunched up in a sign of confusion. The only indication of who had previously been on the world had been that one ruin.

“Need help?” he offered.

“Can you read over this? Either it's saying that their Government ordered them off world or it's quoting Sonnet 113.”

“Sonnet 113?”

“You know, 'Since I left you, mine eye is in my mind; And that which governs me to go about, Doth part his function and is partly blind, Seems seeing, but effectually is out'.”

Title: The Good and the Bad
Author: kayley
Word Count: 100
Fandom: SG1
Challenge: #018 - The elements
Disclaimer: Don’t own

The thing Dawn loved the most about working with the SGC was the chance to see all these amazing different cultures, some which were so much more advanced than Earth and others which were reminiscent of cultures since extinct on Earth. It really intrigued her.

The thing Dawn hated the most was when they were left walking to the Gate, battling the elements. Carrying a heavy pack while there was torrential rain and winds did not impress Dawn in the least. The mud would stick to her boots, making each step heavier, slowing her progression to a hot, cleansing shower.

Title: Lint
Author: kayley

Challenge: #019 - Fluff
Disclaimer: Don’t own

Dawn was rushing around her quarters on base. She only had a few minutes to get changed out of her BDUs and into casual clothes before having to rush to her apartment to meet up with Buffy. But today had not been a good day, fire fight with Goa'uld, one of her team members injured and their delay in getting back which had lead to her rushing around. She grabbed what was supposed to be a pile of clean clothes and stifled a panicked scream. It was completely covered in white fluff. She couldn't see Buffy in lint covered clothes.

Reading back over all of yours, since I skipped many of them due to time pressures before.

I always love a well-written Dawn, and the SGC seems like a natural crossover for her. Fun little snippets.
