Challenge #80
Nov. 14th, 2008 09:08 pmTitle: How About a Nice Sword Instead?
Word Count: 200
Fandom: BtVS/SG-1
Challenge: #80 - Buyer's Remorse
“Buffy….”
“No! I bought it fair and square! You can’t take it away! I finally got it working!”
Giles sighed as his Slayer pouted as if she was still a teenager, not a 20something adult. Her fingers curled protectively around the weapon, and Giles regretted the day he let her purchase the weapon with Council funds. She glared at Jack, who looked entirely unimpressed with her argument.
“Ma’am, that weapon is the property of the U.S. Military and we will seize it by force if necessary,” Jack said, unable to keep the impatience out of his voice.
Buffy’s expression turned from one of teenage pouting to a predatory glare. Her eyes, narrowing, burned with intensity as she growled, “You’re threatening to take my weapon away?”
Giles stepped between the two. “Buffy, we can find another weapon. A-a nice sword. Now give it back.”
With a sigh, the predatory expression gone and replaced by a petulant one, Buffy handed the staff weapon to Jack. Turning to Giles, she demanded, “It had better be nice. With a sharp point. And a pretty handle.”
Jack walked out of the room, shaking his head. Why were the oddest people he met always from Earth?

Poor Jack, poor Giles, with his luck, who knows what sword she'll come back with!
