Buffy grinned at Ashley and spun around, showing off her new dress.
“Well, what do you think?” Buffy asked her.
“I still think you’ve lost your mind that you want to go out with Zimmerman,” Ashley replied.
“Think of it as… my one good act of charity for the day,” Buffy smirked. “Nah, he’s a nice guy. Has no idea on what he’s gotten himself into, so I’m just trying to make him realize that not all of us demon/monster fighters are as uptight as your mum or as suicidal as you.”
“Says the girl most likely to act irrationally.”

“Your problem Buffy,” Ashley advised her. “Is that you see being a Slayer as a job. That you have the option of working it during set hours. What you need to see it as, is a lifestyle. One you need to embrace if you are going to survive when things get tough.”
Buffy sighed. She agreed with her but that didn’t mean she had to like it.
“So what now?” Buffy asked.
“Now, we can either hunt down the Watchers’ Council and fire their sorry arses or we can get them to do some good in the world,” Ashley replied. “You’re the Slayer, without you they are just an ultra rich conglomerate who has no reason to exist. They won’t pay you because they are bastards, so make a deal with them. You’ll survive without them paying you BUT they have to donate a percentage of their earnings to a charity.”
“Yeah, can’t see that working,” Buffy sighed.
“If they don’t, then you quit. I know you told Wes that previously, cause they didn’t help Angel… but this way they know you are serious about it. You’ll refuse them if they refuse you.”
“Could work, the quitting not the charity.”
