Challenge #72
May. 11th, 2008 10:04 pmTitle: Worth Remembering
Fandom: LOTR
Challenge: #072 - Forgotten and Remembered
Word Count: 200
Disclaimer: I didn't create and do not own anything BtVS or LOTR.
Two hundred years was a long time. At least, the girl once known as Dawn Summers knew she used to consider it a long time. In Lothlorien, two hundred years passed quickly. The Eldar didn’t have the same relationship to time that Men did. They also didn’t have such faulty memories.
Dawn had discovered that she counted among the Eldar here, despite being pure energy made human in another dimension. But unlike born Eldar, her memory was imperfect. She knew she had forgotten much from her first life, time spent in the dimension of vampires, demons, and Slayers. The longer she lived in Lorien, the less she recalled of that other world.
Some things she remembered. She remembered all that she had learned of combat. That sometimes, the hopeless fights were the ones most worth fighting. That saving the world was a thankless task which took its toll on any who attempted it. But the memories she held onto most fiercely were the ones of her mother, sister, and friends- people she would never see again, unless they too should find their way to Middle Earth. The Eldar were bound to Arda, even after death, unto the end of time.
