She'd been lying. She wasn't supposed to lie; the Zoo's honor code forbid it. But it was that whole secret identity thing. Most of her lies, she could easily rationalize away, and once past them, she was rarely reminded of them. But this one she had to repeat three times a day, every day. Every time she had to fill out that damned form. It wasn't fair. They weren't feeding her enough, and yet she couldn't tell anyone. Life sucked.

She scribbled the truth on the card she'd sneaked out of the mess hall, and dropped it in the mail.
