Summary: Buffy receives a present.

The Right Gift

Tony watched as Buffy gently shook the brightly wrapped gift. It was the first time he’d gotten her something other than flowers.

“What’s this for?” She asked.

“Just because,” he said, flashing her a genuine smile.

A slight blush colored her cheeks as she smiled shyly back. “That’s sweet of you.”

“Don’t spread it around. Ziva wouldn’t fall for it anyway,” Tony countered.

Buffy gave him a sharp nod. “No worries, your secret is safe with me.” She winked at him. “Wouldn’t want Ziva horning in on my territory.”

Tony was surprised by the warmth that flooded through him. To know that she considered him to be hers as much as he considered her his comforted him more than he’d ever thought was possible.

She opened the box and her eyes widened. “How did you…?” Her voice low and soft had a slight tremble.

“Your sister suggested it and I went from there,” he said sheepishly. He wasn’t going to admit that it took him over a month to find the right one.

“It’s perfect,” she breathed.

Tony grinned. His frat brothers would never believe that the perfect present for this gorgeous woman was a stuffed pig named Gordo Jr.

Summary: Jack meets who he thinks is a stranger.

Spoilers: Through Torchwood season 2x05 Adam.

What's In a Name?

Jack could feel the hairs on the back of his neck rising, signalling something wasn’t right. He picked up his beer and casually swivelled the stool and to lean back against the bar, casually surveying the smoky atmosphere. Something was off and he was determined to figure it out.

The redheaded lead guitarist was stepping off the stage and walking towards him. He seemed familiar, a name just on the tip of his tongue, but refusing to come forth. A ghost of a memory flitting in and out of his consciousness.

The young man settled on the stool next to him and surprisingly only asked for a water. Then his green eyes turned and studied him with curiousity and Jack swore the kid sniffed the air.
“Hi,” he said simply.

“Hey there,” Jack replied, trying not to feel unnerved by the calm stare. “Name’s Jack.”

The man tilted his head. “Oz.”

Jack shifted on the stool. He had the strange feeling he just failed some sort of test. “What?”

“It’s okay not to use your real name. I don’t use mine anymore either,” Oz replied with an understanding nod.

“I’ll share if you do,” Jack nearly leered.

“Mine was Grey.

Summary: Harry talks to Bob.

Fourth in a series. Previous parts can be found here, here, andhere.

Contact

I pulled on my flannel robe before heading down into my lab. Two orange lights gleamed softly in the eye sockets of Bob’s skull as I lit the candles.

“How did the meeting go?” He asked, barely feigning interest.

“Surprisingly, it went very well,” I said, leaning against the table that took up the center of the room. “What do you know about the Vampire Slayer and the Watcher’s Council?”

His eyes flare with emotion. “Where did you hear of them?”

I frowned. “That woman who wanted to meet Michael is a slayer.”

“But you said she was in her twenties,” Bob said, his voice filled with confusion.

“Yeah, so?”

“Slayers are always young teenagers, barely more than girls really. I’d say you were fooled by another damsel in distress.”

I could practically hear the air quotes. “Michael believed her and was awestruck. Just who is she?”

“You’d like her – the slayer is a do-gooder type.”

“But what’s the big deal?” I nearly growled.

“Harry, you really are just a child sometimes. The Watcher’s Council is an offshoot of the White Council. Their one task – to help the slayer perform her duties. But they lost contact with them centuries ago.”

The NCIS had me going 'awww' in a good way, so sweet. And well leave it to Oz to be able to confuse Jack. :) And even though I don't know the fandom I like where you went with the third.

Lovely drabbles, thanks for sharing.

Just one note: Jack doesn't drink beer, or any other alcohol.

Love the Dresden Files crosses, you keep making me regret that I haven't read the books yet!

I agree Jack has gone out for drinks, but I don't think he has drunk alcohol.

In the first episode, when Gwen is drinking Beer, Jack's drinking water.

And while I'd have to go back and look at the the episode where they meet the real Captain Jack, I'm positive that he doesn't actually drink out of any of the bottles when he meets up with Captain John.

I could be wrong, but it's one of those things that I think is a difference between the Jack we see when he first shows up in Dr. Who and the Jack who's been running Torchwood for several years.

I'll just have to rewatch it all to check. *g*

Aw for Gordo Jr.! I don't get the second, but well written; and-- yay for more Dresden Files!

I'd be really interested to see more backstory on how the White Council and the Watchers' Council line up. The two mythologies have a lot of variances-- but it's really, really interesting to think about.

These make 10/6!
