Summary: The last time she saw him was when they were kids; she couldn’t believe he was gone – forever…
UNFORGETTABLE…THAT’S WHAT YOU ARE…
Buffy couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. She tried to be brave. She tried to act unaffected, but as soon as she heard ol’ Nat King Cole sing his famous duet revival with daughter Natalie and the dam broke. Flashflood of pent-up tears started cascading as she tried to block each wonderful memory of the man whose specialized sunglasses she clasped in her hands.
Scott.
She couldn’t believe it. She didn’t want to believe it, but the soot covered sunglasses was proof that her cousin – the one with the quick smile and wry sense of humor – was truly gone.
“C’mon Buffy, it’ll be okay,” Dawn snuggled up beside her sister, an arm wrapped around her tiny sister’s shoulders, the same shoulders who carried the burden of Sunnydale during its last days before it was destroyed.
“No, Dawnie, it won’t be okay. It can’t be okay,” Buffy insisted. “The last time Scott invited us to spend the holiday with him, I turned him down because I was too fucking busy with the First!”
“Shh…it’s not your fault,” Dawn continued to calm her sister down. “I guess we always expected Scott to be there, that’s all,” she shrugged.
