He’s gone so long without any feeling of warmth; he’s just about forgotten what it feels like. Anita has made many comments on the coldness of his eyes, and he knows there are very few that live in a glacial state like him, but warmth leads to being burned.

In his world burning equals death.

And then he met her; with her hair the color of fire and soul to match. For the first time since he was a child, he notices the cold in his bones and his soul. 

Death wonders again what it feels like to be warm.
