He had been a warden for so long that he forgot there were things out there stronger than him. He wore his cloak and sword as a mantle of power, and forgot his years of being young, weak, ignorant. But now, he lay bleeding from the ambush, and watched the one called Kennedy dispatch his vampire attackers with an ease and fury he hadn't seen in ages. Painfully he remembered that though he potentially had many years ahead, he was not the strongest, the fastest, and he was still quite mortal.
For Morgan, that was the most painful to remember.

While not familiar with the fandom, I did enjoy the drabble. . .reminds me of what Riley must have gone through when he found out about Buffy. :-)
