Solecism
n: a socially akward or tactless act.
Fairly early on in their relationship, Draco had taken it upon himself to study Dawn. He’d thought of it as the easiest way to obtain the pure, simple truth of her, but instead found that there were many layers to his lover -- most of which were carefully buried and guarded by the impenetrable barrier of her mind.
A barrier that was now well lubricated by copious amounts of vodka, and, consequently, slid away easily.
“You know, I didn’t really want to fall in love with you, it just happened. What I wanted didn’t matter.” He stared at her, trying to quiet her with his eyes. Now was neither the place nor the time.
“I wanted to be pregnant though. You’re going to be a better father then yours, right?” Everyone at the table froze. Draco could feel their eyes burning into him from all directions, and fought to retain a cool, calm veneer under the weight of their scrutiny.
“Oops! I forgot I hadn’t told you yet. Well, congratulations, Daddy!” She announced gleefully, grinning as she crawled into his lap.
Just a slip of the tongue. A drunken slip, but a slip nonetheless.
A slip that changed his life.
