Joys of Childhood: Puppy shopping and changing your mind without repercussions.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is owned by Joss Whedon.
101 Dalmatians is owned by Dodie Smith.
I was going to write this for the 10x100 words, but never got around to it.
This may be a first for crossovers.

Caroline had always had pets growing up as a child. Her family had had two dogs, a cat, a bird and a goat at one stage. Despite what Benjamin thought, Caroline believed that having pets was one of the joys of childhood.

Rupert seemed to think so, too. Her five-year-old son was ecstatic when she suggested a visit the pet shop one Saturday. He pressed his nose against the glass.

“Mummy, can we get one of those?” he asked, pointing to the litter of black spotted pups in their cage.

“Why don’t we look at the other dogs as well?”

Rupert nodded but only glanced at other breeds before going back to the Dalmatians.

“Do you think they would mind magic?” he asked.

“They’re pretty special dogs,” Caroline said.

A tall woman swept suddenly into the shop, black and white hair severely parted. She pushed Rupert out of the way so hard he stumbled. She glanced at the dogs. The man behind her apologised quietly.

A shop assistant appeared hesitantly at her elbow. She sneered at him.

“I’ll take the lot,” she said, gesturing vaguely to the pups.

Rupert decided that Labradors were probably happier around magic than Dalmatians anyway.
