Author’s Notes: For the tthdrabbles ‘stars and stargazing’ topic. After watching “Departure” tonight, I knew how I wanted my 200 words to go.
Summary: She’s always liked looked at the stars.

She loved to look up at the stars. So vast in their number, their wondrous beauty. It was difficult not to get caught up in the wonder of their majesty even as you craned your neck so hard and long that you got a crick in it.

Stargazing.

The word made her heart thump painfully in her chest, even now. Years had passed and the love hadn’t died. It never would. Pushed aside for other loves, for a love unlike anything that she had ever known. But never dead.

True love couldn’t die. It was eternal, like the light of the stars up above.

She reached out, knowing his hand would be there, and squeezed when she found it.

“You really loved him, didn’t you?”

Isabel glanced over at the dark haired man that sat to her right, giving him a sad smile. She nodded, eyes filling with tears for a friend long gone, a love that never had a chance to fully blossom. “I did. Still do.”

He sighed, turning away. And she got it, then. Her eyes drifted to the stars, to the eternal teen that smiled down at her from their depths.

“I love you, too, Xander.”
