challenge #68: giving thanks

Write 100 or 200 words on the subject of giving thanks. This is not limited to the upcoming American holiday; your characters can be thanking anyone for anything. A gift? A life saved? Some other favor done? Use your imaginations. Any crossover is welcome, but keep anything rated above PG-13 behind a cut. Be creative, and have fun!

These challenges tend to run until I put up the next one; if they lag, I often leave them for an extra week or two hoping for at least one entry. I'm giving up on this one, though.
